Connections
Connections is New Hampshire Humanities' book discussion program for adult new readers offered in partnership with adult basic education and ESOL classes, the prisons, and refugee resettlement organizations. Participants are both native speakers and new Americans. The program uses the best of children’s literature and New Hampshire Humanities-trained facilitators to promote English language skills, promote a culture of reading, nurture conversation in which readers contribute their own ideas and stories, and reinforce family literacy. "Through books and writing and growing in myself, I slowly learned how to express myself and communicate better than I ever thought possible. Because of this change, I went from a quiet, soft-spoken person to a more outspoken confident person. Now I love to write and spend countless hours writing in a composition notebook."
