Jefferson Historical Society: Museum on Main Street - Crossroads: Change in Rural America

New Hampshire Humanities is partnering with Vermont Humanities and the Smithsonian’s Museum on Main Street program to bring a travelling exhibit, Crossroads: Change in Rural America, to small towns in New Hampshire and Vermont.
Jefferson Historical Society will host the traveling Smithsonian exhibit from Saturday, March 29, 2025 to Sunday, May 10, 2025. Hours of the exhibition will be Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday 12-8, Wednesday and Friday 9:00 am - 3:00 pm, and Saturday 9:00 am - 1:00 pm.
Special events include:
- Saturday, March 29th, 10:00 am, New Hampshire humorist, author, and storyteller Rebecca Rule “That Reminds Me of a Story (in conjunction with the Marc A. Hurzeler MD Library)
- Saturday, April 5th, 10:30 am, Jo Radner presents an interactive program, “Family Stories: How and Why to Remember Them" (in conjunction with the Marc A. Hurzeler MD Library)
- Week of April 7th, special presentations by the Heartwood Public Charter School
- Thursday, April 24th, 6:00 pm, Steve Taylor presents “Late in Arriving, How Electricity Changed Rural New Hampshire Life” (in conjunction with the Marc A. Hurzeler MD Library
- Saturday, April 19th, 1:00-4:00 pm (program runs from 1:30-2:45 pm): Join us for a special gathering featuring a brief program, Stone Walls and Cellar Holes, presented by Humanities to Go speaker Adair Mulligan. We will also recognize NHH Jere Daniell Public Humanities Teacher Fellow Mallory Langkau-Gross, a social studies teacher at Groveton High School, and hear brief remarks from Joe Marshall, president of the Jefferson Historical Society, about the Crossroads: Change in Rural America exhibit on display from March 29 to May 10, 2025. The event will conclude with cake and refreshments—everyone is welcome!
