Dennis Britton is Associate Professor in the Department of English at the University of New Hampshire, where he has taught since 2006. He earned a B.A. in English from the University of Southern California, and a M.A. and Ph.D. in English from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is a specialist in English Renaissance literature, and at UNH he regularly teaches courses on Shakespeare, early British literature, and religion and literature. He is the author of a book, Becoming Christian: Race, Reformation, and Early Modern English Romance (2014), for which he was awarded a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Humanities. He has also written articles on topics ranging from 16th century English travel narratives, representations of Muslims and religious rituals on the Renaissance stage, to Shakespeare’s literary influences. In 2014 he was selected as an “Emerging Scholar” by the periodical Diverse: Issues in Higher Education.
Katharine Eneguess is president of Magalloway Consultants, bringing strategic counsel to people and organizations. Katharine has a unique blend of organizational development skills, and experience as a knowledge broker, innovator, and catalyst for implementing complex public policy initiatives and systems change. She has extensive skills in organizational strategic planning and facilitation, relationship building, fundraising/development, legislative and regulatory change strategies, and leadership experience in rural community colleges. From Fall 2003 through June 2014, Katharine was president of White Mountains Community College and served in many roles representing regional, national, and international community colleges, working with the American Association of Community Colleges. Her prior employment and service includes Vice President of Policy at the Business & Industry Association of NH, and many other NH and New England boards of trustees/directors, including past chair of the Northern Forest Center, trustee of the Society for the Protection of NH Forests and Leadership North Country. Her current trustee service includes NH Public Television, NH EPSCoR Committee, Early Learning NH, and NH Economic Development Advisory Board. Katharine holds a B.S. from Plymouth State College and M.A. from Johnson State College.
Stephen Genest has worked as a human resources professional for the past thirty years in manufacturing companies in both New Hampshire and MA. He has a B.A. (English) from St. Anselm College, and a M.A. (English) and M.B.A. (Human Resources) from Rivier College. He is a former high school English teacher as well as an adjunct instructor at local colleges. He currently serves on the board of directors for Pennichuck Water Corporation in Nashua and chairs the Compensation and Benefits Committee. Steve and his wife Luane, an elementary school teacher, live in Nashua and have three sons and three grandchildren.
J. Burton Kirkwood served as Senior Academic Dean and Professor of Social Science at Colby-Sawyer College in New London from 2011 to 2016. Prior to arriving in New Hampshire, he taught for sixteen years in the Department of History at the University of Evansville in Evansville, Indiana. His interest in history has been a lifelong one. He became more aware of events in Latin America by observing the struggles in El Salvador and Nicaragua as the United States became involved in these two countries in the early 1980s. Following a lengthy trip to Peru and extensive travels in Mexico, he learned more about this vital region. He completed his doctoral degree in Latin American History at Florida State University where he examined the activism of working people in Mexico during the Mexican Revolution. Burton’s interests in social change grew following graduate school through the exploration of modern civil rights struggles in the United States. He is the author of The History of Mexico, published with ABC-CLIO. He lives with his wife and son in Springfield, New Hampshire. He has traveled and lived in Mexico and Italy; his interests include cycling, furniture making, camping, and cooking.
Nick Perencevich has been the physician investigator for the New Hampshire Board of Medicine for two years and has been teaching medical students at Dartmouth for the last six years. Prior to these positions he worked as a community general surgeon at Concord Hospital for 22 years, retiring from full clinical work in 2010. Nick also worked at the Veterans Hospital in Manchester from 2010 to 2012. In 2012 he also worked full time for six months as a teaching surgeon in Rwanda, Africa as part of the Human Resources in Health Program of the Rwandan government. Nick was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. He graduated from Dartmouth College and Harvard Medical School and did his surgical training at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. After training he served for two years in the Air Force. Nick has been on the board of trustees of the Concord Community Music School and the Concord Regional Visiting Nurse Association. He currently serves as a board member of the Center for Health Equity at Dartmouth (Geisel) Medical School. Nick and his wife Ruth have three children and three grandchildren.
